The Vehkaniemi Estate consists of old, peasantlike buildings with historical value. There are many stories related to them. The old way of life can be sensed in their walls, floorplanks, paths, shores and forest. Linen for the purposes of the estate has been grown on these fields. The building materials have mainly been cut from the estate's forest. The generations go, but the estate remains. And the stories go on.

Everyday life has always been hard in the Vehkaniemi estate, but the house has also been well known for its feasts and generosity. Certain happenings have become traditions. The skills of handcraft and woodwork have always been highly appreciated there. Since the year 2009 the estate is being opened more and more to the public. Visiting it is possible for groups on appointment.

The surrounding nature is beautiful, there are a lot of berries and many species of mushrooms in the forest and there is a lot of fish in the lake.

Environmental conserns have been taken into account carefully. In forestry, for example, we apply multifunctional principles.
